Is Running Electricity to Your Gazebo Canopy the Best Choice?
If you have or are planning to add a gazebo canopy to your backyard landscape you have many decisions to make, including the style, color, material it will be built from and the least of which is whether you will run electricity to your gazebo.
There are some excellent reasons why running electricity to your gazebo canopy is a must have, and there are also reasons why it’s not necessary at all. What you need to look at first is what you will be using your gazebo for. What you are using your gazebo for and how you will use it will help you decide whether adding electricity is right for your gazebo.
Is your gazebo going to be away from the house, will it be a focal point in a garden? Will your gazebo be near the house, and basically an extension of your living space? If your gazebo is going to be a new outdoor living space you are definitely going to want to run electricity.
With electricity you will expand the uses of your gazebo canopy more than you can even imagine. Just imagine if you didn’t have electricity inside your house, it will be much the same once you get in your gazebo space and realize just how much you love it. You will want to spend time in it and it will be much more pleasant with electricity. It will also increase the amount of time and when you can use your gazebo. It will extend your days, as well as your season.
Your decision in lighting is something you need to look at. You need to decide on lighting that’s not only functional but beautiful as well. You can install pool lights in the floor for dramatic upward lighting that will look wonderful from far away. You can also set up a ceiling fan with lights ~ this does double duty, starting a nice breeze and adding light.
You will probably find once you start spending time in your gazebo you will want to spend even more time there. IF you have planned ahead and decided to put in electricity you may want to think about putting in a couple outlets. This will allow you to plug in your laptop, the blender as well as a lamp or two. This will make your new gazebo a wonderful space and an excellent addition to your home.
Once you have your your gazebo installed with electricity you will find it has become your favorite “room” of the house.
